My Skincare Routine

With Spring just a step around the corner, it's time to get away from the winter blues and get your skin in tip top condition, especially when one of the biggest beauty trends of 2013 is going to be ultra healthy, hydrated, glowing skin as seen on the catwalks of Balmain and Matthew Williamson.

So, I thought I would share with you my current skincare routine - the exact products I use changes often, as I'm always discovering and testing new products. I have combination skin type with an oily T-zone and every now and then I get breakouts of spots but usually my skin is quite well behaved since I've put a good skincare routine in place.

My Skincare Routine

For the past 6 months I've been using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash & Mask every morning and evening to wash away any dirt, make-up or oil on my skin - it does a fab job and about once a week when I have an extra minute or two to spare I'll leave it on as a mask to give my skin a deep rinse. When I'm wearing a lot of make-up I like to remove the wash with a hot flannel, it works like a treat!

One to two times a week I use Origins Modern Friction a gentle dermabrasion - I've been a fan of this product for years, it's one of my can't-live-without-it products. It has the classic Origins smell of Bergamot and Peppermint (Mmmm...) teamed with fine rice starch cushioned in a thick cream which quickly polishes your skin to perfection. If you haven't already you need to check out this wonder product.

Next step in my routine is Neutrogena Clean Visibly Clear Spot Stress Control 3-in-1 daily cleansing lotion. I really think this cleanser teamed with the Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash & Mask has helped protect my skin from many acne breakouts. The cleanser is enriched with a green tea and cucumber formula, it instantly makes my skin feel fresher and helps take away any last bits of impurities left on my skin. - I'm open to new cleanser suggestions, do you know of a cleanser I should try - tell me in the comments section!

Now something to zap those pesky spots..! I felt slightly pushed into purchasing the Origins Super Spot Remover by an over zealous Origins sales lady. However, I do enjoy using the product now I've had time to test it out. It comes in the tiniest of pots (10ml) for £13 - it does last a long time though. It's a gel like product that you simply dab on the affected area and it helps the healing process. I think for this product you have to use it combined with a good skincare routine for the gel to really work it's magic.

Now... I may have a lot of Origins products in my skincare routine but this is because I used to get facials from them when I lived in Brighton and it's kept me going back to them ever since. I also think it's better to use the same brands in your routine as they are usually made to work together and won't irritate each other - that is what I have found anyway.

I keep my moisturiser simple and use Origins Balanced Diet Lightweight Moisture Lotion day and night. I really like that it absorbs immediately and leaves no shine or residue on my skin, it's a perfect match for my combination skin - soothes dry patches, yet is lightweight on my oily T-zone.

Finally... but not least! I use the Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream I'm no beauty expert but this seems like a good, gentle, nourishing eye cream. I got this product free in a Glossybox a few months ago, it seems like a good quality product that is very nourishing to the skin around the eye. I've heard a few mixed reviews so definitely make sure you test it out before you pile it on.

Now it's your turn: What's your favourite skincare product and why?

  1. I love this Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2-in-1 Wash & Mask. I have been using this for 2 months now and so far loving it ;)

    1. Have you tried anything else in the range from Neutrogena? I'm interested in seeing what else they have.

  2. There isn't anything Origins that I haven't loved yet! I have combo skin as well and I haven't tried the Balanced Diet Lightweight Moisturizer yet. Great find, that'll be next to try!
